The Dog Whisperer
This is an original, 15” X 22”, framed painting from my poured watercolor collection. Each painting is created with watercolor, but unlike traditional watercolor paintings, these paintings are made without a brush (except for a few final touches at the very end of the process).
Each painting uses only three colors: red, blue, and yellow. This method involves pouring the paint straight onto the paper and then manipulating it to allow the colors to mix and create unique, vibrant color combinations on their own…. with just a little help from me. It is a fantastic way to get loose, fluid blends of color without using a brush. Typically, I apply 4 to 5 layers of poured paint, working gradually, getting darker with each consecutive pour. Between each layer, a “rubber protectant” is used to preserve the lighter areas of the previous application of watercolors.
It is always exciting at the end of the process because 90% of the painting will be covered with rubber masking. Once completely dry, this rubber protectant is peeled off, revealing the picture below. With a wink and a nod from the watercolor gods, the reveal is a wonderful surprise, and a colorful, unique painting comes to life.
Each original painting will come matted and framed, and ready to hang. Please allow 2-3 weeks for orders to be received, as they must be carefully packaged and shipped to arrive in perfect condition at their new home.
The “Dog Whisperer was inspired by a young man walking 12 dogs along the busy streets of Buenos Ayres in Argentina. It was impressive that within all the business of the city, “The Dog Whisperer” walked these dogs quietly and confidently through the city without any issues. He was truly magical, he was the “Dog Whisperer”
